Begur medieval town and historic center
Begur is a charming town, combining its medieval past with its Indian essence, which is why it is said that Begur hides a great historical heritage. One of the main attractions of Begur is its castle, the Castillo de Begur. Located on the hill of the town, it offers a magnificent panoramic view of the sea and beautiful views of the Medes Islands and the town. It is one of the most beautiful viewpoints to photograph the Costa Brava. Other essential places in Begur are the center of the Vila, a square full of terraces where you can taste the local gastronomy and where all kinds of events are held. Presided over by its church, the Church of Sant Pere and Santa Reparada, very close to the square we find the Town Hall, the defense towers and the Casa de la Vila. We recommend getting lost in its beautiful streets and discovering its most precious secrets, such as the colored stairs and the Es Pedrís Llarg bank.
Begur and its Indian houses
Another legacy that does not leave travelers different is its colonial tradition. Begur hides beautiful Indian houses, such as the Casa de la Vila, which breathe the spirit of old Havana, a sample of the cultural union of yesteryear between Cuba and Begur. At the beginning of September, the town pays homage to this relationship with the famous festival: Feria de Indianos or Fira d'indians. A party where markets are held, the locals dress up in period costumes, exhibitions and concerts are held, special gastronomic menus are offered and all kinds of activities are carried out for both adults and children.
